Unlocking Communication Potential

About Click

Click Speech Therapy was established in 2023 by Beth Heeks (nee Yerbury), an experienced paediatric Speech and Language Therapist.  Beth believes that when something 'clicks' in therapy this is the most rewarding part of her job.  Here at Click our logo represents the key areas of our approach: the speech bubble to represent all forms of communication, the heart to represent our dedication to our clients, the key represents our aim to unlock communication potential and the lightbulb for the moment that things 'click' for a client, family member or member of staff when learning to develop communication skills.

About speech therapy

Beth has always known she wanted to work with children, and she started her career by completing a degree in Early Years and additionally working in nurseries, mainstream schools and special schools as a Teaching Assistant and Speech and Language Therapy Assistant.  This background now helps her to understand and effectively support range of different professionals and settings.

Since completing her Masters in Speech and Language Therapy in 2010 Beth has always worked with children who have complex communication needs, both through the NHS, independent and charity sector.   Beth is highly passionate about supporting children who are non-verbal and who have complex physical needs, finding ways of unlocking their potential and helping those around them find ways to communicate with them too.   Often this may be through using Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) and Beth has many years of experience in supporting children to use a range of low and high tech AAC systems.

Beth has also been working with Case Management Services for the past five years within the medico-legal sector, providing specialist intervention in the home and schools to cases of Acquired Paediatric Brain Injury.

About Makaton

Beth originally completed her Makaton training through the old Foundation Workshops in 2006.  She has proactively used Makaton as part of her therapeutic approach with students and families ever since.  In 2022 Beth achieved her ambition of completing the full Makaton tutor training and is now a licenced Makaton Tutor to fully teach the Makaton Core Vocabulary training courses.  Beth's vision is to support a range of settings within her local borough to become Makaton Friendly in order to reach as many children as possible who will benefit from this approach.
